About New Leaf Landscape Design
Cheryl L. Miller
Ms. Miller is a landscape designer, garden historian, and historic preservationist. She began her early horticultural training as a child working closely with her parents on their “suburban farm” in Illinois, eventually obtaining her formal education in landscape design and history at the Landscape Institute, Harvard University.
A lifelong interest in the history of designed built environments motivated Ms. Miller to later pursue an M.A. in historic preservation from the Boston Architectural College. This breadth of training has allowed her to handle a diverse portfolio of projects, while specializing in sustainable landscape design and rehabilitation work on historic residential properties. She enjoys having the ability to help clients explore the range of options available for making both historically informed and environmentally sound choices.
Prior to founding New Leaf Landscape Design, Ms. Miller, who also holds a B.A. in biology from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Ph.D. in molecular genetics and cell biology from the University of Chicago, spent nearly a decade working as a business professional in the biotechnology sector. Her former experiences in business development, project management, and team building bring a high standard of professionalism to New Leaf Landscape Design.
